SETUP

Five straightforward steps

  1. 01

    Create your Plex account

    Use your own email address and password. A standard Plex account is free.

  2. 02

    Send John your Plex details

    Send only the email address or username you used for Plex. Use the message button below, then paste it into LINE, WhatsApp, email, or your usual chat.

  3. 03

    Accept the invitation

    John will grant your account access. Open the email from Plex and select the invitation link. Check your spam folder if it does not arrive.

  4. 04

    Install Plex and sign in

    Install Plex on your television, phone, tablet, computer, Apple TV, Fire TV, or other streaming device, then sign in with your new account.

    Open and pin the libraries

    If the shared libraries are not immediately visible, open More in the Plex sidebar, find John's server, and pin the libraries you want to keep handy.

USING A TELEVISION?

Let the TV generate the login code.

Choose Sign In in the Plex television app. Scan the temporary QR code shown on screen, or visit plex.tv/link on your phone and enter the four-character code.

A few common questions

Do I need to pay for Plex?

Creating an account is free. If Plex asks you to purchase remote playback access, check with John before buying anything.

Why can't I see the server?

Confirm that you accepted the invitation while signed into the correct Plex account. Then open More in the sidebar and look for John's shared server.

What information should I send John?

Only your Plex email address or username. Never send your Plex password or a television linking code.

The invitation email did not arrive.

Check spam and confirm the address you used. John can also send you the private acceptance link directly.
